0131 — Down the Road / Washed in the Blood

Now, you should know, if you know me at all, that my radio does not play country music. But… I was getting a snack at [where else?] a Snack Shop a while back, and the phrase “washed in the blood” caught my ear. I looked up the lyrics later. Here are part of them:

Now down the street from here
There’s an engineer with an only son
And our baby girl says
She believes that he is the only one

Down the Road

Her momma wants to know
Is he washed in the blood or just in the water
And I want to know
That he makes enough to take my daughter

Down the Road
When it comes time to go
Down the Road

Down the road
You know I want to help her go
down the road

It made me think how I had been blessed to find [well, to be given] the wife I have who has helped me down the road for going-on-35 years now.

And how we have both been blessed by the young men whom the Lord sent to our daughters to help THEM down the road. Wow. We could not have picked better mates for them had we tried.

And in more recent history, the young ladies that the Lord put in the paths of our sons are stellar, each in her own way, but all in His way!

That’s all. I finally happened to think about those lyrics while I had some computer time, so I just thought I’d share those thoughts with you.

FAMILY is such a blessing.
