Drew's Journal
February 19, 2006
Well, it seemed to Chandra that it would be a more efficient use of time for me to write a journal instead of her. Evidently, she doesn’t think that lying on your back with your right leg propped on three pillows is hard work. She thinks that she is much busier than I am, just because she is basically a single parent with two babies, a job, and a house to maintain… did I mention that my leg is on three pillows? As we all know, anything over two is very time consuming.
Of course you all know that I’m joking. Chandra has been passing herself coming and going for the past two weeks. She has been doing a great job of keeping everyone taken care of. Obviously, I have been absolutely no help in taking care of the boys. I am unable to stand up, without the use of crutches, so it is not possible for me to hold the boys or carry them anywhere. In addition, any contact with my lower leg is very painful, so I don’t even feel comfortable lying on the floor and playing with them, for fear of getting my leg hit. In short, I am basically useless for all things short of being a pillow warmer.
I am ready to get back up and around. I never thought I’d miss going to work everyday. Who would have thought that I would get tired of lying in bed and watching TV? I have seen more documentaries on the History channel and the Discovery channel than I care to count, on every subject from WWI side arms to the American Loch Ness Monster. I am ready to be back at work!!!
Well, enough about me. The boys are doing incredibly well. I was only in the hospital for one week, but it seems as if I missed two months of their development. Canon is all over the place, and jabbering all of the time, while Creed is already sitting up and eating baby food (with his new tooth). It is amazing how much fun they are to watch. Each day brings a new adventure to them, which they attack with an energy that makes me envious.
Speaking of adventures, Chandra and I have decided to sell our house. We really just thought that we didn’t quite have enough going on right now, so we wanted to take on one other project (can you hear my voice dripping with sarcasm?). So, as I am lying in bed, I am constantly thinking about all of those little things that need to be done to a house in order for it to sell well. The more I lie here, the longer the list gets. I have to go back to work before the list becomes unmanageable.
