I tried to take Canon to see Santa at the TCH Christmas party today at noon, but they told me the time had been printed incorrectly and we really couldn’t come up until 2:00! I was so disappointed; we had our Santa hat and photo consent form all ready. They asked if we could come back later and I told them “no” because it was right at Canon’s naptime. If they knew what he had been through the last week, I bet they would have started the party early just for him. Anyway, we came back to the apartment.

Drew had to fly back to Amarillo today so he can get a few days of work in this week. He’s coming back on Friday, but we sure are going to miss him in the meantime. Tonight I looked over at Canon on the floor in the living room and he put his hands together and said, “Dear God, Daddy… Creed…” What’s neat is that God speaks that language and that prayer carried as much weight with Him as any other.

I’m missing my friends. I’ve heard voice mails from them and some have left messages for us on the guestbook. Not quite the same, though. I need to know what’s going on with Cash and Teri’s mom, how Tatum, Ardyn, Sydney, and Elizabeth (brand new babies) are doing, how Jennifer’s and Stephanie’s pregnancies are going, how the kindergarteners are doing at school… It’s just now hitting me that I have a life in Amarillo that I won’t see for a while. Make no mistake, I’m exactly where I want and need to be; it’s just feeling farther and farther away.

The apartment is really great. It has a living room/dining area next to the kitchen and then a room and bathroom off one side of the living room and another room and bathroom off the other side. Guess where the boys are sleeping? This is going to sound terrible, I know, but… the closets!! They are HUGE and heated and air conditioned and the quietest spots! Seriously, they are probably like 8 feet by 8 feet or something! The only problem is they are both off of the bathrooms, so we can’t really use either of the bathrooms after bedtime! We’re still trying to think of a better sleeping arrangement for everybody.

Well, we have our first follow-up visit in the clinic tomorrow to draw blood work and stuff. I have to get up at 6:30, so I’d better go ahead and get some sleep.
